WELCOME TO THE CENTRAL AFRICAN MISSIONS WEBSITE. Central African Missions (CAM) is a UK Christian charity supporting a group of Pentecostal Charismatic missionaries in Central Africa since 1915.
Our aim is to bring encouragement, help, skills and finance to the churches in  Central Africa by sending missionaries to work alongside the local churches, in partnership with them.
We hope you enjoy your visit and, if you need more information, please feel free  to contact us.

D R CONGO

The Pentecostal Church of Congo (CPCO) was founded in 1915. In its beginnings it mainly covered the Katanga and Kasai provinces but has now spread nationwide. Together with other Christian denominations it has weathered the storms of civil wars and political unrest.  However, enthusiastic evangelism and church planting has resulted in amazing growth.

One of the greatest needs in the church at this time is for leadership training. Priority is for the production of Bibles at an affordable price for the growing church.  Up to date discipleship and teaching material is a must.  Medical and various compassionate aid programmes require support. Tremendous needs exist among children and youth.

The aftermath of the civil war, aids and family disruption have left thousands of children without education and care.  Our dedicated workers are doing all they can to help but much more should be done.

ZAMBIA

Zambia is one of the most stable nations in Central Africa. It has 85 ethnic groups speaking 41 separate languages. There is an open door for Missions and the emphasis is on working within the present structure of the National Churches. The Pentecostal and Brethren in Christ churches represent a large portion of the Christian population. CAM missionaries work mainly with these bodies.

Zambia has a huge AIDS crisis presenting a challenge to Missions and medical workers. It is estimated that Zambia has the highest level of AIDS orphans in the world.  As in Congo there is a constant need for Leadership and Pastoral training and there are still areas that are unevangelised.

ETHIOPIA

Ethiopia is a great and historic nation which features in the Bible in both the Old and New Testaments. Today there are 26.5 million Muslim and 34 million Orthodox out of a population of 78 million population.

Both these groups are opposed to evangelical and Pentecostal belief. However, in recent years thousands have come to faith in the Jesus Christ. As in the Book of Acts, dreams, miracles and healings are experienced together with strong opposition and in some cases, violent persecution.

CAM does not have missionaries in Ethiopia but works in partnership with experienced Pentecostal missionaries linked to the Ethiopian ‘Hiwot Berhan’ church.  Through these channels CAM seek support for national Evangelists and Church planters who understand their own culture and languages. (Over 70 separate languages are spoken in Ethiopia.) Currently 65 national church planting evangelists are supported in this way.

MOZAMBIQUE

Mozambique is one of the poorest countries in the world. For 470 years it was a colony of Portugal. It became a Marxist-Leninist state and was plunged into 30 years of intense guerrilla warfare. This ended in 1995. Since then peace has been maintained. Churches multiplied and grew during the ‘90’s more than any other central African nation.

The southern part of the country suffered greatly in 2000 by the great cyclone and flooding which destroyed much of the infrastructure of that part of the country.  There are wide open doors for the Gospel and compassionate aid programmes.
